Our Issues

STRONG NEIGHBORHOODS

Democrats Rob Dorans, Shayla Favor, Emmanuel Remy, and Elizabeth Brown believe that every Columbus resident should benefit from the growth of Columbus. Their goal is to make sure Progress is benefitting everyone in every neighborhood and every zip code. If it’s not for all, it’s not for us.

Good-paying Jobs

Columbus is the fastest growing city in the midwest and the 14th largest city in the country. People move to Columbus for the opportunities it offers.

Democratic Councilmembers Rob Dorans, Shayla Favor, Emmanuel Remy, and Elizabeth Brown are focused on the positive impacts available to anyone who wishes to work, live or raise a family in our city.

That’s why Rob Dorans, Shayla Favor, Emmanuel Remy, and Elizabeth Brown make strategic growth a priority and advocate for good-paying jobs for everyone. No matter where you live in the city of Columbus, if you work here, you should be able to afford to live here.

INFRASTRUCTURE

As our city grows, it is important that we improve infrastructure to help people get to work and raise a happy and healthy family. Democratic Councilmembers Rob Dorans, Shayla Favor, Emmanuel Remy, and Elizabeth Brown are focused on maintaining the best city services such as clean water, safe streets and sidewalks, and community-centered parks and rec centers.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

One of Councilmembers Rob Dorans, Shayla Favor, Emmanuel Remy, and Elizabeth Brown’s top priorities is expanding affordable housing. Affordability in our growing city must remain a top focus. If you work here, you should be able to afford to live here.

PREPARING OUR CHILDREN TO SUCCEED

As Columbus continues to grow, so do the needs of children and families in our communities. Columbus City Council has invested in resources to ensure children are ready to learn when they enter their classrooms—without barriers keeping them from success.

City Council Democrats have worked with student advocates to invest in new sidewalks and infrastructure around our schools to make sure that students are able to safely get to school.

Councilmembers Dorans, Favor, Remy, and Brown commit hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding to wraparound services such as breakfast programs, summer lunch programs, and reading programs through libraries to help our students even when school is not in session.

Education is the key to a better future, and Dorans, Favor, Remy, and Brown are working to provide the best environment for our children to grow.

KEEPING SENIORS SAFE

Columbus City Councilmembers Rob Dorans, Shayla Favor, Emmanuel Remy, and Elizabeth Brown make sure our seniors have access to the resources they need to live comfortable, secure, and healthy lives.

They have taken steps to make sure senior residents are able to stay in their homes by decreasing eviction, displacement, and homelessness.

From reliable transportation to emergency response systems, seniors in Columbus deserve services they can rely on. Democrats Dorans, Favor, Remy, and Brown understand the issues facing our seniors and are prepared to continue to work toward everyone’s ability to age in place.
